Summer 2017 Business Analytics Intern - Greensboro Swarm (Greensboro, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Analytics and Database Marketing Intern will be interning in our offices here in Greensboro, NC. The primary responsibility of this intern will be to assist the Business Intelligence department’s needs with business analytics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with statistical research and examination
• Algorithm testing
• Assist with creating analysis on business metrics
• Assist with data cleansing and preparation
• Data entry 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Due to the high complexity of the work we will give this intern, this person must have advanced knowledge of Excel functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, IF, macros, etc. If you describe yourself as an “Excel Wizard,“ we would like to chat with you.
• The ideal candidate will be extremely detailed and organized.
• Candidates should be organized, professional, mature, self-starting and committed to the sports industry.

Education and/or Experience

• Must receive college credit
• Experience working on a database append/cleanup project for a company or organization is beneficial.
• Experience working on a statistical project and/or modeling for a sports team is beneficial.

  • Experience with computer programming preferred.
  • Experience with R a wps

Summer 2017 Business Operations Intern - Greensboro Swarm (Greensboro, NC)

Position Overview

The Greensboro Swarm is seeking a hard-working, outgoing, and dedicated individual to become an integral part of our  NBA Development League team. The Business Operations Intern will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the department through hands-on involvement with the President of the Swarm. You will gain valuable and practical experience with all business units. Further, you will acquire a deep understanding of how the various parts of a professional sports organization work together to produce a successful business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to conduct research through best practices within NBA D-League, NBA, WNBA and other sports leagues
  • Ability to create spreadsheets for reporting purposes for all business units
  • Assist business coordinator with internship job descriptions
  • Assist with all merchandise inventory/assets
  • Assist with all business operations presentations related to ticket sales, corporate sales, marketing, merchandise and other events
  • Working closely with the different departments within the organization and all other projects as assigned

Position Overview

The Greensboro Swarm is seeking a hard-working, outgoing, and dedicated individual. The Corporate Sales Intern will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the department through hands on involvement with the President and Director of Corporate Sales of the Swarm. You will gain valuable experience as the point of contact between The Greensboro Swarm organization and current or potential sponsorship/partnership clients. The candidate should be client focused, display integrity, and be attentive to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, facilitation, and execution of sponsorship/partnership sales and leads
  • Assist in creating and tracking all Corporate Partnership proposals and contracts
  • Learn and implement the sales process from introduction to closure
  • Develop and apply progressive sales strategies for the Greensboro Swarm
  • Maintain and continue to improve a positive image for the company
  • Working closely with the different departments within the organization and all other projects as assigned
  • Assist in marketing research of potential partners
  • Help recap proposals of existing partners
  • Assist with graphic design elements

Summer 2017 Event Presentation Intern - Greensboro Swarm (Greensboro, NC)

Position Overview

The Game Entertainment Intern will be working in our Greensboro office. Your primary responsibility will be assisting the Manager of Marketing and Game Presentation in day-to-day activities including but not limited to advertising, event activation, and game promotions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Building a family-friendly show that focuses on both large-scale and individualized fan experience
  • Assisting entertainment stage coordinator on game days
  • Game day materials including: writing scripts, game day formats, work schedules, and game day assignments
  • Organizing National Anthems, Color Guards, Halftime Performances, and other per-game, in-game, and post-game entertainment
  • Maintaining entertainment calendar
  • Attending all preseason and regular season games
  • Creating entertainment teams’ information sheets
  • Providing instruction and direction to ensure all contests, performances and sponsor elements are properly executed
  • Attending/coordinating additional team events as necessary
  • Coordinating rehearsal schedules and secure rehearsal space
  • Assisting with coordination of auditions and photo shoots
  • Inventory of all game day props, prizes and giveaways
  • Assisting with all in-game promotions including: live features, crowd prompts, and music
  • Assisting with social media platforms

Position Overview

This is a non-paid internship and requires the individual to receive academic credit. This intern will need to attend Greensboro Swarm events and need to be in the office 20-40 hours a week. This is an unpaid position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will be assisting with fan engagement events
  • Assisting the Ticket Sales Representatives with daily activities
  • Participating in daily and weekly sales/career development training sessions
  • You will have hands-on experience in sales (via phone and in-person), public relations, marketing, event planning, customer service, promotions, and business management
