Fall 2010 Season Ticket Services Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks a Season Ticket Services intern who will be responsible for:

  • Assisting at all Bobcats home games with Will Call, giveaway tables, guest services, Season Ticket Holder booths as needed
  • Performing and reviewing surveys of Season Ticket Holders
  • Communicate effectively with other departments about game day experience
  • Assisting with communication to Season Ticket Holders
  • Assisting with the website navigation and tracking
  • Helping with the Season Ticket Holder maintenance
  • Participating with events and checking in ticket holders
  • Organizing and distribute Season Ticket Holder gifts, etc.
  • Distributing tickets to Season Ticket Holders as needed
  • Attending and interning at non-basketball Time Warner Cable Arena events
  • Other duties as assigned by manager


Pursuit of a Public Relations, Marketing or Hospitality degree is preferred.

The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel. Candidate with previous experience in a service role is preferred. Candidate should be very detailed orientated.

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limiting to, a junior, senior or graduate level student.

This intern will require that the student is in the office approximately 30-40 hours a week and attend all Bobcats home basketball games.

Internships: Web/Creative Services
Fall 2010 Website/Publications Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks a Website/Publications intern who will be assisting with:

A.) Help write unique content for bobcats.com from breaking news, player features, game previews and game stories
B.) Interviewing players, coaches and members of the staff as necessary
C.) Copywriting and transcription of interviews, recaps and previews
D.) Shooting photos using digital camera and shooting video
E.) Special projects, as assigned by the Marketing Department.

The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task. Applicant must be able to work on PC and Mac platforms. Creativity is a must. Candidate must be a quick learner, enjoy a fast paced environment and be able to work a variety of hours. Knowledge of HTML is a plus. Any experience working for a team, athletic department or with a sporting event is beneficial.

Pursuit of Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Communication or an English degree is preferred.

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks a Graphic Design intern who will be:

  • Assisting the Creative Services Department in designing sales and promotional materials such as guides, calendar programs, invitations, postcards, brochures, flyers, signage, and advertisements.
  • Researching, scanning and recommending images to use in assigned projects.
  • Organizing graphic files for the department. Pursuit of a Graphic Design major is preferred. The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task. Applicant must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. The intern must have experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign in a MAC environment. Fall 2010 IT Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks an Informational Technology intern who will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting end user computer problems.
  • Communicating problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to customers and management.
  • Creating and following standard processes, plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule, and clearly document results.
  • Providing end user support to an internal client base of 100+ users.
  • Logging and tracking calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
  • Internal end user support of all PC hardware and peripherals.
  • Network related troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring is also essential
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Computer inventory management

Pursuit of a Computer Science related degree is preferred. The ideal candidate should be organized, aggressive, professional, mature, self-starting and committed to the sports industry. Any IT experience working for a team, athletic department, or with a sporting event is beneficial. Strong communication skills are a necessity. Must have proven written, oral, and presentation skills, knowledge of system design, development and implementation procedures, ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware and software applications, identify hardware deficiencies and report findings Must possess full understanding of PC architecture, PC support, Server support, Microsoft Windows 2000 Workstation and Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows XP, Office XP, and Anti-Virus tools. This candidate will need to be able to lift 50 lbs.

This intern will need to attend Bobcats Basketball games and need to be in the office 20-30 hours a week.

Hours Required:
Hours vary – Must be available for some arena events, as well as selected Bobcats games, throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and weekends.

Job Description:
Time Warner Cable Arena, home of the Charlotte Bobcats, is looking for a college junior or senior, or graduate student to serve as an intern for operations & events held at the arena. The position is unpaid and you must receive academic credit.

The Intern will:

• Assist in daily operations of the Arena Operations Department, maintaining & updating event file, and such.
• Assist with admin duties such as green awareness, maintaining supply orders, corporate express, and FedEx, events calendars, etc.
• Assist with pre event planning, and day of events operations associated with all TWC Arena events & Bobcats games.
• Assists Arena Operations department with various other projects.

Fall 2010 Community Relations Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks a Community Relations intern who will assist us with:

  • Coordinate Community Donations program of autographed items and merchandise, includes maintaining all databases and follow-through.
  • Assist with Community and Player Tickets program, includes distribution of tickets on a per game basis.
  • Help with planning, coordinating and implementing community initiatives, focusing on literacy and education, health and fitness, and wellness. Other CR events include Season of Giving, auctions, autograph sessions and mascot appearances. .
  • Provide assistance with all Bobcats Youth Foundation fundraisers, including game auctions, golf tournaments, galas, and other special events.
  • Assist with in-arena activities such as meet and greets, VIP game-day experiences, game-day auctions, check presentations, honorary ball boys, colorguard, high 5 squad, bench warmers, spotlight and CR area on the Arena concourse.
  • Manage and conduct inventory of CR storage areas, including autographed items and giveaway items.
  • Support CR staff.

  • Maintaining media lists
  • Assisting with creating and distributing media credentials
  • Assisting with research, writing and editing of media releases as necessary
  • Distributing public relations material to staff and fans as requested
  • Organizing and archiving media clippings
  • Responding to media inquiries
  • Miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

Pursuit of a Communications or Public Relations degree is preferred.

The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and writing skills. Previous experience in a college sports information office, school newspaper, internship with a sports team or campus athletic department is preferred. Candidate should have experience with sports writing, research, feature writing and transcription. The candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Word. Knowledge of basketball game statistics is also a plus.

Fall 2010 Group Sales Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks a Group Sales intern whose duties will include:

  • Assit the group event coordinators with the servicing and sale of any group tickets, birthday party packages, programs and promotional ticket packages to a Bobcat or Arena event.
  • Assit with the planning and execution of group events
  • Work closely with the Manager of Group Sales to produce group programs and timelines.
  • Conduct research for the Group Event Coordinators on specific programs .
  • Assit the group sales department on game days and weekends.
  • Assist the group sales department with large mailings
  • Perform administrative tasks on a daily basis.
  • Sort complimentary vouchers to determine if leads can be generated.
  • Assist with researching information for direct mail campaigns.
  • Intern will be responsible for data entry and manipulation of sales leads in our internal database.
  • Occasionally run off-site errands
  • Assist the group sales department with Arena events/programs

Qualifications:

  • Major: Sales/ Marketing/ Advertising/ Communications (preferably)
  • Must be very motivated and professional
  • Must be honest, timely and capable of working with the public.
  • Strong work ethic able to work in team environment
  • Proven written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to search Databases for inquires and build spreadsheets.
  • Must be able to be a full time intern
  • Must have reliable transportation
