Fall 2014 Interactive Media Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

UNPAID INTERNSHIP:

Hornets Sports & Entertainment seeks a Interactive Media intern who will be assisting with:

A.) Help write unique content for bobcats.com from breaking news, features, previews and stories
B.) Interviewing players, coaches and members of the staff as necessary
C.) Copywriting and transcription of interviews, recaps and previews
D.) Shooting photos using digital camera and shooting video
E.) Special projects, as assigned by the Marketing Department.

The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task. Applicant must be able to work on PC and Mac platforms. Creativity is a must. Candidate must be a quick learner, enjoy a fast paced environment and be able to work a variety of hours. Knowledge of HTML is a plus. Any experience working for a team, athletic department or with a sporting event is beneficial.

Pursuit of Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Communication or an English degree is preferred.

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.

The candidate will have to be in the office between 20-40 hours a week. The intern will also have to attend some Hornets basketball games.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Hornets seeks an energetic individual to support members of the Basketball Operations staff with daily team operations and logistics. This unpaid internship requires 20-40 hours per week.

Fall 2014 Guest Services Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

 POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive college credit. The intern will need to be in the office 30-40 hours a week. The Guest Services intern will play in integral role in event day operations and help oversee our staff of part time employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit.
This intern will need to attend Hornets Basketball games and need to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Troubleshooting end user computer problems.
• Communicating problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to customers and management.
• Creating and following standard processes, plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule, and clearly document results.
• Providing end user support to an internal client base of 100+ users.
• Logging and tracking calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
• Internal end user support of all PC hardware and peripherals.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Hornets will have both remote and in-office basketball analytics interns. The interns will code and perform statistical analysis to build basketball software tools, develop apps, and help us improve our basketball decision making process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Build user-friendly software tools and apps for use by the basketball operations staff
• Work with large datasets
• Design and perform rigorous statistical analyses in support of basketball operations decision making; analyses may include prediction of future player performance, quantification of player contributions to team performance, and assessment of team/player matchups for use in game preparation
• Produce stats-based reports for the front office and coaching staff

Fall 2014 Client Services & Retention Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.
This internship requires a commitment to assist staff during Hornets games and be able to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for working at all Hornets home games, staffing the Hornets Arena Will Call, Guaranteed Giveaways table, Guest Service Windows, and/or Season Ticket Holder booth on the concourse as needs dictate
• Perform and review surveys of season ticket holders.
• Work with Game Operations and all other game staffs with the execution of improvements to the game day experience for all Premium Seat Holders.
• Proactively communicate in person via other communication methods with premium seat holders to gauge satisfaction levels, and to inform them of upcoming season ticket holder exclusive events.
• Assist with all season ticket holder events, including, but not limited to first year orientation and open practices.
• Interact with employees and customers to assist in the resolution of problems and concerns voiced by season ticket holders.
• Organize and distribute season ticket holder gifts, birthday cards, etc.
• Help to plan, organize and execute season ticket holder events.
• Assist with research and tracking efforts to determine Season Ticket Holders concerns and interest.
• Contribute to the common goals of the department and demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills
Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Premium Services, Director of Premium and Season Ticket Services and Vice President of Sales and Services.
