Fall 2014 Photography Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

Reporting to Creative Director – the Photography Intern will have the opportunity to work in a corporate / professional sports setting. They will assist in photographing events, basketball games, products within a studio and working on our digital asset management system to organize and tag photos. 

  • Work with digital image capture systems
  • Gain working knowledge of entertainment operations
  • Experience developing product photography the Hornets, websites, Photography booth and marketing materials
  • Gain hands-on experience working on site at Time Warner Cable Arena
  • Participate in the production of location photo shoots for multiple projects
  • Benefit from high quality additions to your working portfolio

Required Skills

  • Must be able to gain college credit
  • Be well versed in digital photography
  • Basic knowledge of lighting systems for multiple settings
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom. (Adobe creative suite a plus)
  • Knowledge of indoor, outdoor, and moving subjects is helpful
  • High energy, initiative and sense of urgency
  • Must be able to work on Game nights
  • Mac based knowledge a plus

Fall 2014 Marketing Administration Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. The marketing intern will gain valuable training from the members of his/her marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Hornets Fans.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the interdepartmental implementation of marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns
  • Coordinate delivery of advertising collateral to media partners
  • Understand and utilize web-based analytics tools for regular production and analysis of performance marketing program reports
  • Aid in the development of reporting requirements to determine ROI and overall effectiveness of campaigns
  • Assist with market plan development
  • Assist in the management of databases and email campaigns
  • Learn and utilize the techniques used for project management for creative (graphics) and brand initiatives (i.e. social, digital, mobile)
  • Assist with hospitality needs for clients and executives
  • All other duties as assigned

Fall 2014 Interactive Media Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

UNPAID INTERNSHIP:

Hornets Sports & Entertainment seeks a Interactive Media intern who will be assisting with:

A.) Help write unique content for bobcats.com from breaking news, features, previews and stories
B.) Interviewing players, coaches and members of the staff as necessary
C.) Copywriting and transcription of interviews, recaps and previews
D.) Shooting photos using digital camera and shooting video
E.) Special projects, as assigned by the Marketing Department.

The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task. Applicant must be able to work on PC and Mac platforms. Creativity is a must. Candidate must be a quick learner, enjoy a fast paced environment and be able to work a variety of hours. Knowledge of HTML is a plus. Any experience working for a team, athletic department or with a sporting event is beneficial.

Pursuit of Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Communication or an English degree is preferred.

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.

The candidate will have to be in the office between 20-40 hours a week. The intern will also have to attend some Hornets basketball games.

Fall 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and requires the individual to receive academic credit. All candidates will be expected to intern 31-40 hours a week and attend all Hornets home games. Candidates will be responsible for assisting with the ideation, planning and implementation of all Corporate Social Responsibility fundraising campaigns and events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate Donation Xchange program of autographed items and merchandise-includes maintaining all databases and follow-through.
• Assist with Player Nation Ticket program - includes distribution of tickets on a per game basis.
• Help with planning, coordinating and implementing community initiatives, focusing on literacy and education, health and fitness, and wellness. Other CR events include Season of Giving, auctions, autograph sessions and mascot appearances. .
• Provide assistance with all Charlotte Hornets Foundation fundraisers, including game auctions, raffles, galas, and other special events.
• Ideation of CSR campaigns and events
• Creation of sales decks to present CRS campaigns and events to potential partners
• Assist with in-arena activities such as meet and greets, VIP game-day experiences, game-day auctions, check presentations, honorary ball boys, high 5 squad, bench warmers, spotlight and the Community Corner concourse activations.
• Manage and conduct inventory of CR storage areas, including autographed items and giveaway items.
• Any additional duties that may arise.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limiting to, a junior, senior or graduate level student.
This internship will require that the student is in the office approximately 30-40 hours a week and attend all Hornets basketball games.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintaining media lists
• Assisting with creating and distributing media credentials
• Assisting with research, writing and editing of media releases as necessary
• Distributing public relations material to staff and fans as requested
• Organizing and archiving media clippings
• Responding to media inquiries
• Miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES
The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and writing skills.
• Previous experience in a college sports information office, school newspaper, internship with a sports team or campus athletic department is preferred.
• Candidate should have experience with sports writing, research, feature writing and transcription.
• The candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Word.
• Knowledge of basketball game statistics is also a plus.

Education and/or Experience
• Intern must receive college credit
• Pursuit of a Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Sports Management degree is preferred.
