Summer 2015 IT Internship - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit.
This intern will need to attend Hornets Basketball games and need to be in the office 20-40 hours a week. This intern must be available for the Summer 2015 semester.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Troubleshooting end user computer problems.
• Communicating problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to customers and management.
• Creating and following standard processes, plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule, and clearly document results.
• Providing end user support to an internal client base of 100+ users.
• Logging and tracking calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
• Internal end user support of all PC hardware and peripherals.
• Network related troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring is also essential
• Other duties as assigned by management
• Computer inventory management

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES
The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• The ideal candidate should be organized, aggressive, professional, mature, self-starting and committed to the sports industry.
• Any IT experience working for a team, athletic department, or with a sporting event is beneficial.
• Strong communication skills are a necessity.
• Must have proven written, oral, and presentation skills, knowledge of system design, development and implementation procedures, ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware and software applications, identify hardware deficiencies and report findings Must possess full understanding of PC architecture, PC support, Server support, Microsoft Windows 2000 Workstation and Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows XP, Office XP, and Anti-Virus tools.
• This candidate will need to be able to lift 50 lbs.

Education and/or Experience
• Pursuit of a Computer Science related degree is preferred.
• The candidate should be, but not limiting to, a junior, senior or graduate level student.
• Must receive college credit

• Possess a strong ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives
• Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage their own individual projects
• Be a flexible and reliable team player, both within own department and the company as a whole
• Have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
• Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
• Dependability – consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to manager’s instructions.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Ability to attend company events.
