Summer 2014 IT Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks an Informational Technology intern who will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting end user computer problems.
  • Communicating problems and solutions both verbally and in writing to customers and management.
  • Creating and following standard processes, plan effectively to complete tasks on schedule, and clearly document results.
  • Providing end user support to an internal client base of 100+ users.
  • Logging and tracking calls using problem management database, and maintains history records and related problem documentation.
  • Internal end user support of all PC hardware and peripherals.
  • Network related troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring is also essential
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Computer inventory management

Pursuit of a technology related degree is preferred. The ideal candidate should be organized, aggressive, professional, mature, self-starting and committed to the sports industry. Any IT experience working for a team, athletic department, or with a sporting event is beneficial. Strong communication skills are a necessity. Must have proven written, oral, and presentation skills, knowledge of system design, development and implementation procedures, ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware and software applications, identify hardware deficiencies and report findings Must possess full understanding of PC architecture, PC support, Server support, Microsoft Windows 2000 Workstation and Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows XP, Office XP, and Anti-Virus tools. This candidate will need to be able to lift 50 lbs.

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit.

 The candidate should be, but not limiting to, a junior, senior or graduate level student.

This intern will need to attend all Bobcats basketball games and will need to be in the office 30-40 hours a week.

Summer 2014 Video Animation/Graphic Artist/Marketing Intern - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

UNPAID INTERNSHIP:

Bobcats Sports & Entertainment seeks an Animation / Graphic Artist intern who embodies the following qualifications:

- Suggested Major: Media Production/Graphic Design/Animation
- Candidate needs the desire to work in the broadcast television graphic design/ animation and/or video production and post-production fields.
- Must have intermediate creative skills in utilizing After Effects, Photoshop, Avid or Final Cut or other design and editing programs.
- Must have good organization and project management skills.
- An overall understanding of the television industry is preferred.
- A knowledge of cameras, shooting and lighting. 

Responsibilities:

-The intern will help with the implementing, executing and maintaining graphic elements and video library.

- Duties would depend on their computer abilities in various graphic and editing programs.

- Capture and label footage.

- Assist in design of video features and animations.

- Assist in the set up and break down of studio equipment.

- Populate templated graphics.

Summer 2014 Basketball Analytics Internship - Charlotte Bobcats (Charlotte, NC)

Intern Responsibilities:

The basketball analytics intern will be interning in our office here in Charlotte, NC. The intern will code and perform statistical analysis to help us improve our basketball decision making.

More specifically:

  • Build user-friendly applications and software tools for use by the basketball operations staff
  • Work with large datasets
  • Design and perform rigorous statistical analyses in support of basketball operations decision making; analyses may include prediction of future player performance, quantification of player contributions to team performance, and assessment of team/player matchups for use in game preparation
  • Produce stats-based reports for the front office and coaching staff

 

Recommended Skills:

- Strong coding skills with experience in SQL, C#, and Visual Basic; experience with ASP.NET is a plus but not required

- Experience with statistical analysis (including on large data sets) and commonly used statistics packages (especially R), data visualization, and basketball analytics.

- Bayesian analysis skills

- Artificial intelligence and machine learning skills

- Excellent attention to detail in checking and working with data

- Self-starter with an ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities, with willingness to work flexible hours

- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
