Video Production Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW
Interns will learn to work cooperatively in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment, while enjoying the excitement of working within a professional sports organization. This is an unpaid internship requiring 30-40 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Execution of pre-production schedule including video & audio editing as well as graphic design.
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the production team.
• Pre-production organizing and planning for off-site events and community relations based initiatives.
• Execution of production orientated tasks leading up to and on game days.
• Expected to work every home game.
• Aid in the post-production process of exporting and uploading videos to team’s website, authoring DVDs, etc.

The Charlotte Hornets seek an energetic individual to support members of the Event Presentation staff with daily team operations. Finance Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Finance Department at Hornets Sports and Entertainment has seven members.  The department is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of a holding company which includes, among other legal and accounting entities, a National Basketball Team and the Time Warner Cable Arena. Also associated with the team is a 401(k) benefit plan and a not-for-profit organization. While some of the tasks the intern will face might be routine, the Department will have needs the intern can fill that provide insight into the "nuts and bolts" of how the organization works. Just as important, the department members will be glad to share their experiences working in sports and entertainment. This is a non-paid internship that requires the candidate to be in the office 30-40 hours a week. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·          Assist with the financial statement audit by preparing financial schedules to support the face statements or footnotes.

·          Assist in the preparation of tax information for various entities and jurisdictions

·          Update Excel workbooks that summarize information such as insurance policies or sponsorship contracts.

·          Assist with actual vs. budget comparisons

·          Assist finance members with developing detailed budgets based upon discussions with various department heads

·          Convert trial balance information into management reports

·          Record routine cash transactions in the sub ledger and post batches to the general ledger

·          Perform roll forwards and reconciliations. Roll forwards to include fixed assets, debt, and equity. Reconciliations to include cash, prepaid, and accruals.

Grassroots Marketing Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. The marketing intern will gain valuable training from the members of the marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Hornets Fans. Unpaid internship working 30-40 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the interdepartmental implementation of marketing strategies, promotions and campaigns
• Coordinate delivery of advertising collateral to media partners
• Understand and utilize web-based analytics tools for regular production and analysis of performance marketing program reports
• Aid in the development of reporting requirements to determine ROI and overall effectiveness of campaigns
• Assist with market plan development
• Assist in the management of databases and email campaigns
• Learn and utilize the techniques used for project management for creative (graphics) and brand initiatives (i.e. social, digital, mobile)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The intern will need to be in the office approximately 30-40 hours a week and will need to attend Hornets home games.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the group event coordinators with the servicing and sale of any group tickets, birthday party packages, programs and promotional ticket packages to a Hornets or Arena event.
• Assist with the planning and execution of group events
• Work closely with the Manager of Group Sales to produce group programs and timelines.
• Conduct research for the Group Event Coordinators on specific programs.
• Assist the group sales department on game days and weekends.
• Assist the group sales department with large mailings
• Perform administrative tasks on a daily basis.
• Sort complimentary vouchers to determine if leads can be generated.
• Assist with researching information for direct mail campaigns.
• Intern will be responsible for data entry and manipulation of sales leads in our internal database.

Position Overview

The Charlotte Hornets Foundation is committed to inspiring a philanthropic culture and strengthening the Charlotte region through intentional partnerships, charitable giving and social projects in the areas of education, wellness, hunger and military care.  The Charlotte Hornets Foundation intern will work directly with the Coordinator, Charlotte Hornets Foundation to facilitate, promote, maintain and implement fundraisers and events that support the Charlotte Hornets Foundation.  This position is a nonpaid internship working 31-40 hours per week including some all Hornets home games and arena/foundation events as assigned. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Hornets Community Corner and High School Volunteer program on game days
  • Assist coordinator, Charlotte Hornets Foundation with fundraising activities and events, including the My Hero Gala, silent auctions, raffles, merchandise sales and in-store shopping events.
  • Assist coordinator, Charlotte Hornets Foundation with execution of the following programs: Education Grants, Teacher Innovation Fund Grants and NPO Partner Program.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA Development League team owned and operated by the Charlotte Hornets, is looking for a college junior, senior or graduate student to serve as the Communications intern for the Public Relations department. The pursuit of a sports management, communications or public relations degree is preferred. The position is unpaid and the student must receive academic credit. Hours vary but attendance at all Swarm home games during the semester is required. May be asked to attend other events on evenings or weekends. The Communication Intern will rotate throughout the department in the areas of maintaining media tasks, public relation duties, and miscellaneous job duties. The Intern must be proficient in Microsoft applications, possess both excellent writing and people skills and preferably have previous experience in a college sports information office. The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) intern will assist in the implementation and progression of community outreach programs in the areas of education, health and wellness and any other community events the Greensboro Swarm engages in. The CSR internship provides an opportunity for proactive individuals to gain valuable hands-on community outreach experience for a professional sports organization. This is an unpaid internship that requires academic credit. The position will require attendance at all Swarm home games.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Contribute to the development and coordination of community events & programs including, but not limited to NBA Cares, player programs and partnership activations

·         Identify marketing and promotional opportunities to increase brand awareness of community programs

·         Write event recaps and keep a comprehensive record of media clips that cover community programs and special events

Basketball Operations Intern - Greensboro Swarm (Greensboro, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Greensboro Swarm seeks an energetic individual to support and learn from members of the Coaching and Basketball Operations staff with daily team operations and logistics. Dates for this internship are from September 2016 through April 2017 (two semesters), candidates must be available to work home games and practice days.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

·         Assist coaching staff with player development, rebounding, and drills in practice.

·         Work with the coaching staff to prepare scouting reports and video for analysis on opposing teams and players.

·         Help with charitable and community events with our players and coaches.

·         Work with Basketball Operations staff on managing team equipment (must be able to lift 50lbs.).

·         Help Basketball Operations staff with player personnel, database management, and other operations tasks.

·         Support basketball operations staff with preparing the facility, court, and equipment/gear for practices and games.

Assist with transporting players to and from practice and games (must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record).

·         Other duties as assigned by coaches or basketball operations staff.
