Position Overview

The Charlotte Hornets are looking for a motivated and hardworking student wanting to pursue a human resources career and open to learning the structure and responsibilities of an HR department within the sports and entertainment industry. To be eligible for this internship you will be required to receive academic credit. This internship is unpaid.

Summer 2017 Membership Services Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.

This internship requires a commitment to assist staff during Hornets games and be able to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for working at all Hornets home games, staffing the Hornets Arena Will Call, Guaranteed Giveaways table, Guest Service Windows, and/or Season Ticket Holder booth on the concourse as needs dictate
  • Perform and review surveys of season ticket holders.
  • Work with Game Operations and all other game staffs with the execution of improvements to the game day experience for all Premium Seat Holders.
  • Proactively communicate in person and via other communication methods with premium seat holders to gauge satisfaction levels, and to inform them of upcoming season ticket holder exclusive events.
  • Help to plan, organize and execute season ticket holder events including, but not limited to first year orientation and open practices.
  • Interact with employees and customers to assist in the resolution of problems and concerns voiced by season ticket holders.
  • Organize and distribute season ticket holder gifts, birthday cards, etc.
  • Assist with research and tracking efforts to determine Season Ticket Holders concerns and interest.
  • Contribute to the day to the day to operations of the membership service department in preparation of daily objectives, game day duties, and the renewal campaign.  
  • Manage the client services hotline to assist Swarm Members and Individual Game Buyers who are experiencing issues with their online account manager by using Archtics and CRM database system
  • Take inbound and make outbound calls to customers who need assistance
  • Input information collected from Swarm Members from face-to-face interactions and phone calls into the CRM database to manage and record touch point opportunities
  • Assist in projects related to overcoming renewal objections during role play training sessions
  • Setup and create Swarm365 summer member events
  • Research local businesses in an attempt to host Member Events
  • Secure location, date, and cost for each event

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Membership Services and Vice President of Sales and Services.

Position Overview

You will work directly with Digital Marketing Manager, to facilitate and maintain the Charlotte Hornets email marketing strategy. This is an unpaid internship (working 20-40 hours per week) and we require that you receive school credit for your work.

Position Overview

Interns will learn to work cooperatively in a dynamic and deadline driven environment, while enjoying the excitement of working within a professional sports organization. This unpaid internship requires a 20-40-hour workweek and course credit from your academic institution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execution of pre-production schedule including video & audio editing as well as graphic design
  • Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the production team
  • Pre-production organizing and planning for off-site events and community relations based initiatives
  • Execution of production orientated tasks leading up to and on game days (Spring & Fall Internships only)
  • Aiding in the post-production process of exporting and uploading videos to team’s website, social channels, etc.

Position Overview

The marketing department is responsible for all brand building efforts. This entails developing key fan insights and translating insights into breakthrough fan engagement efforts. These efforts may be through traditional media, new media, events, partnerships, etc. As the marketing intern you will gain valuable training from the members of his/her marketing team on how to most effectively build a brand and how to effectively research a specific business challenge, develop winning strategies to address the business challenge, and qualify the proposed solutions with Hornets Fans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Marketing Department Inventory
  • Updating and maintaining Practice Court Request Log
  • Aid in the filing and organization of documents
  • Make copies and distribute out to internal and external departments
  • Assist with various company events
  • Order department supplies i.e. office supplies, snacks, etc.
  • Update Marketing Department Wall Calendar- Internal and External Hornets & Arena Events
  • Update Marketing/Grassroots Events/Activations Calendar
  • Assist in the creation of Game Day Notes and Game Plans, preparing gift bags for VIP guests.
  • Assist with game plans and plan and preparing meetings

Position Overview

This is a non-paid internship and is requiring the individual to receive academic credit. The applicant should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.The intern will need to be in the office approximately 20-40 hours a week and will need to attend Hornets home games.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the group event coordinators with the servicing and sale of any group tickets, birthday party packages, programs and promotional ticket packages to a Hornets or Arena events
  • Work closely with the Manager of Group Sales to produce group programs and timelines.
  • Conducting research for the Group Event Coordinators on specific programs.
  • Assist the group sales department on game days and weekends.
  • Assist your department with large mailings
  • Sort complimentary vouchers to determine if leads can be generated.
  • Assist with researching information for direct mail campaigns.
  • Intern will be responsible for data entry and manipulation of sales leads in our internal database.
  • Occasionally run off-site errands

Position Overview

The Finance Department at Hornets Sports and Entertainment has seven members. The department is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of a holding company which includes, among other legal and accounting entities, a National Basketball Team and Spectrum Center. Also associated with the team is a 401(k) benefit plan and a not-for-profit organization. While some of the tasks the intern will face might be routine, the Department will have needs the intern can fill that provide insight into the "nuts and bolts" of how the organization works. Just as important, the department members will be glad to share their experiences working in sports and entertainment. This is a non-paid internship that requires the applicant to be in the office 20-40 hours a week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • You will be assisting with the financial statement audit by preparing financial schedules to support the face statements or footnotes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of tax information for various entities and jurisdictions
  • Updating Excel workbooks and summarizing information such as insurance policies or sponsorship contracts.
  • Assisting the department with actual vs. budget comparisons

Position Overview

Spectrum Center, home of the Charlotte Hornets, is seeking an upbeat individual to support members of the Basketball Operations staff with daily team operations and logistics. We prefer that you are pursuing a degree in sports management or sports medicine, but this is not required. The position is unpaid and you must obtain academic credit for your work. Hours vary – You should be available for most arena events throughout the semester that may occur on evenings and/or weekends, including Arena Events and Hornets games.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative support to Hornets Basketball Operations staff
  • Assisting basketball operations equipment manager and staff with various department related projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs is required along with a general understanding of basketball.
  • Working with the Hornets Equipment Manager to maintain the inventory and working condition of all Hornets equipment including uniforms and practice gear.
