Basketball Operations Video Intern - Charlotte Hornets (Charlotte, NC)


This individual will work in the video room, help and aid coaches in specialty projects and stats needed during season, use Sportstec & Synergy to edit and log NBA/ College games, work on end of game situations, diagram plays, and help with practice and rebounding for players.  The candidate will have to be in the office between 20-40 hours a week. This is an unpaid position and requires the individual to receive academic credit.  The intern will also have to attend some Hornets basketball games.  This person will work with the Video Department throughout the entire season. 


  • Assist staff with video room responsibilities
  • Assist with computer logging and editing game/practice film (NBA and College)
  • Learn Diagramming software to help diagram plays when needed
  • Record NBA, College, and European games
  • Assist in filming team practices and scrimmages
  • Be involved in tape exchange with other NBA organizations
  • Help provide specialty DVDs for coaches and others when requested
  • Assist with additional duties that may present themselves over the course of the season
  • Be available to help with on-court practice/workouts…rebounding, passing, etc.

  • The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task.
  • Applicant must be able to work on PC and Mac platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Work and Excel are expected.
  • Candidate must be a quick learner, enjoy a fast paced environment and be able to work a variety of hours.
  • Any experience as an athletic player, manager, coach or working for a team, athletic department, or with a sporting event is beneficial.

Education and/or Experience

·         Must receive college credit

·         The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.


·         Possess a strong ability to manage one’s own time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives

·         Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information

·         Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage their own individual projects

Basketball Operations: Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy/Doctor
Head Athletic Trainer - Greensboro Swarm (Greensboro, NC)


To provide the best professional care possible for the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up of injuries and illnesses for all players.


  • Responsible for regulations and implementation of treatment of players
  • Liaison with team physicians (Ortho and Internist)
  • Assist with team travel and accommodations as needed
  • Travel with the team during the season
  • Establish and maintain accurate medical records at both the organizational and league levels
  • Facilitate league required drug testing and keeping the team in compliance with the league's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the athletic training room and other sites as designated, including managing clinical & clerical supplies
  • Coach and develop athletic trainer interns
  • Manage team attendant workforce
  • Other duties as assigned by coaching and basketball operations staff


(To perform the job successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this job.)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certification with the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
  • Current first aid certification
  • Physical therapy certification and strength and conditioning certifications (NSCA, NASM, etc), preferred
  • Equipment management, strength and conditioning program experience preferred
  • Presents self in a professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
  • Interpersonal skills – ability to maintain confidentiality, listens to others, and willing to try new things
  • Team player
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills
